Who We Are

At Seasons Fine Gardening and Landscape Design, we believe every outdoor space tells a story. Guided by a mission to curate high-style, personalized landscapes rooted in horticultural excellence, we design gardens that honor both the vision of our clients and the natural rhythm of the environment. Our work is built to last—spaces that evolve gracefully over time, enrich daily life, and contribute positively to the world around them.

Seasons was founded on a lifelong passion for plants, a respect for design, and a deep understanding of how environment shapes what can flourish. With roots in both horticultural expertise and creative vision, the team brings artistry and care to every project—curating gardens that inspire joy, reflect individuality, and grow more beautiful with time.

Joey Pellegrin

What early influences shaped your passion for plants and gardening?

Raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Joey developed a love for nature, the outdoors, and plants from a very young age. The women in his family each had their own horticultural passions — from houseplants and ornamentals to tropical species, edible gardens, and manicured landscapes. Their influence instilled in Joey a lifelong appreciation for the beauty and variety of plants.

How did moving from New Orleans to Charlotte impact your approach to horticulture?

When Joey moved to Charlotte in 2000, an entirely new world of cold-hardy plants opened up, thriving in conditions far different from the New Orleans climate. This experience broadened his knowledge and deepened his respect for how place and environment shape what can truly flourish.

What professional experiences prepared you for leading Seasons Fine Gardening and Landscape Design?

Over the years, Joey has been fortunate to work with many mentors across the green industry, gaining experience in retail, greenhouse sales, residential landscapes, installation, and maintenance. His first business began at just 14, cutting grass and planting shrubs and annuals. From there, his love for design and architecture grew through exposure to cultural influences and design experts who helped hone his eye for detail.

What is your design philosophy when creating gardens and landscapes?

At Seasons Fine Gardening and Landscape Design, Joey’s philosophy is simple: honor both the needs of the client and the needs of the space. Every site has its own story — the soil, the microclimate, the surrounding environment — and the plants themselves often reveal what works best. With thoughtful planning and a respect for nature’s rhythms, Joey curates spaces that not only achieve a client’s vision but also improve with time.

For Joey, every garden is an extension of who he is. The work brings joy, motivation, and the chance to meet each property’s unique challenges with creativity and care.
